Their promotion offering two rebates with the purchase of their stand mixer is a ruse. You don't get two items, you get either/or.

Dumbasses just lost a customer... Next time I'm buying Viking!

It's them. I just got my second rebate bounced back. I called their CS dept and was told it was a choice of the two, not both rebates.

Yes, they do suck. The hinge pin on my Artisan will not stay in place regardless of what I do with the fixing bolt.

I wouldn't buy another.

Ya I guess I tend to buy their industrial stuff (damn fiance chef type people)...

Trust me, if I had the space there'd be a Hobart bolted to a work top. ;)

The Kitchen-aids that pivot up are crap.

You gotta get the ones with the bowl that goes up and down. Those last, unlike the cheap crap flip up ones.

I have a NICE hand mixer right now. For once a month use I just can't justify getting a $300 one.

Now that I have a rice cooker I rarely eat bread.

Nah. You want a floor model. That way you could bake for all of Fooland, and still have enough left over to feed the meese! Try the 40-quart on for size:

:D That's like me- since I invested in a nice French mandoline, I hardly ever use the food processor for slicing.

:) Did some time in a big bakery --- oh yummy heaven. Walk into a room of hundreds of pies, another room of fresh - just out of the oven oooey-goooey sticky buns - the kind when you cut them - leave a sticky drizzle about a yard long. ohh.

But I have to say - what took my breath away was going back and caught the head baker making a huge VAT of chocolate icing - Huge! I mean he had his whole arm into the vat (covered of course) and it still didn't touch bottom (evidently one of the beaters was malfunctioning). Walked into his room to get him and was stopped dead in my tracks.

Have no idea how I managed to NOT gain weight in there!

Mail-in rebates are more evil than KitchenAid could ever hope to be.

Ummmm yummy! Way back when, I was stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and we had to go by a bakery every AM on our morning run. They specialized in cinnamon buns. Alas, we couldn't stop (it was an industrial bakery anyway- no retail shop) and we still had 4 to 5 miles to go before breakfast. That was just cruel and unusual punishment, plain and simple. No wait- that would have been the coffee roaster- a big plant that must have rosted a couple tons a day at least. The smell was positively putrid (for those of you who've never smelled it, it's nothing like coffee- more like burning rubber). This came at the end our usual run, just in time to kill the appetite we'd worked up.

Bummer to hear about a bad experience with K-A, especially direct from their "service" group. I love my K-A equipment; my kitchen looks like an ad for their gear.
- Pro-5 lift bowl mixer
- Programmable crock-pot
- 10pc cookware
- nylon cook tools
- dish rack and drip tray
All colour matched. Probably getting a blender and a food processor, too.

Probably more to keep the Darwin Award candidates from sticking their arms into direct, bajillion-horsepower peril.

It's actually there to keep whatever you're blending from running away before you can hit the power button.;)

How about K-A blenders - anybody have one? Or any other manufacturer recommendation. I'm looking to get a new one since the motor burned out on my last one.

My Hamilton beach has put up with frequent use and icy fruit for several years without a problem. Best part is that it's a blender and food processor and was only $35.

A manager of a catering unit that was closed for the holidays was working at my unit to help out, managed to put her hand in the mixer while it was going.

She comes into the office saying shes done something stupid, amazingly the doctors where able to give her full use of her hand again just took a while.
