I've run into a snag with my latest road build and I need to know whether I can galvanize the front derailleur off the Moto. I would just take it off but I don't want to mess up the alignment if it isn't a 34.9 clamp.

My Fantom Cross (not Pro) uses a 31.8 clamp.

If seatpost is 27.2 the outer seat tube diameter is generally 31.8mm.

This is true for most aluminum frames which usually have over-sized tubing. Most steel frames however, use 28.6 braze on adapters. The third "standard" is 35.0mm which a lot of carbon frames use.

While we are on the subject, my steel Lemond Poprad (2007) is a 31.8mm ST diameter with a 27.2mm seatpost.
