Framebuilders - Seat Stay/Brake Bridge/Wheel Clearance on SS C/X Bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm planning a frame build modeled vaguely on the old GT triple triangle design, effectively aiming to build a single speed road/cyclocross frame with clearance for 700c 35mm to maybe 38mm tires. If I use a primary braze to the Top Tube with a secondary to the Seat Tube and a shortened/higher placement but present brake bridge, will I retain overall frame integrity? Especially in the rear triangle, i.e., will the seat stays do the job? Please let me know.

Yup, that will work. What you're essentially doing is shortening your effective ss's and attaching them the same way that you see on many lugged frames. The primary brazes (ie, the one that carries all the load) will be the ones on the seat tube- the extra ss extending to the tt really does nothing but look cool........and make the frame a little harder to paint :)
