Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Now ya got me.... I cant remember the name... its not a well known make i know that... Probably a cheap thing with low end components
If it's old and somewhat cheap, it's a bad idea. All of the new stuff out is NOTHING like the old lower end components.
If you take apart a hub from a K-Mart bike, and a Chris King, or Hadley or Shimano (quality shimano, not the cheap crap), the high end is VERY VERY VERY different than the crappy stuff.
I don't think you would learn anything at all from the old one, except maybe to learn how to work on old crappy bikes...

I think ANY experience is worthwhile! Go for it. If you run into trouble, you can always ask questions in the "Bicycle Mechanics" threads.
The biggest problem you'll have is not having the right tools. This is always a hassle. But, if you buy stuff on-line, you should always include in your purchase a $10-20 tool. You'll build up your tool inventory without breaking the bank all at once!
Another problem you'll have with older bikes is frozen or siezed parts. I've found that "PB Blaster" is a great solvent for loosening rusted parts. I usually get mine at the local auto parts store. Works well, smell horrible!

thx A2psy...... that what i thought... At least its a basic idea of the bike... and not everyone can afford ck, hadley or top of the range shimano..
My tool inventory is huge... my dad works on cars and motorbikes so all the spanners and things i need i alreafy have... its just the bb tool.. and crank remover and specialist stuff klike that.. which ill buy when the time comes to it...
