Does anyone have information on where to lock your bike at the Staples Center? I'll be at the Lakers/Suns game tomorrow night and obviously I'm concerned about bike safety. Thanks!

Take me. I'll drive. Problem solved.

I was thinking the same thing. I'll drive and pay for parking.

Heh, you'll have to pry the tix from my brother's hands (or convince him that you're worthier than me!) :)

If you're willing to take the train, PICO station is right across the street. 1.25 each way.

-Don't bring your 'top rig'. Fixies will be fine, as will a well-prep'd road, race-worthy bike. I've locked up my Bianchi Virata (great bike) for more than 24hrs downtown and had no problems whatsoever. Then again, I'm using a Pitlock on it :) Still race ready! Lock it up well, and you're better off than you think. This isn't New York.

-There are racks... they are around. You may need to ask a Security Guard where they are. They're either against the building near the entrances (as would be the logical, architectural thing to do) or near the pedestrian entrances of the nearest parking structure. (structure, not a lot)

-I've *never* used the racks, however. I've locked up to a sign-post (usually the "No-Stopping Anytime" type) along Chick Hearn drive.

-The place is now sickeningly well lit up due to the Nokia Theatre activity and all the new "attraction" in the area. People are moving around constantly - and your bike will never be in the dark because the place is now as scary as a scene from Bladerunner.

To those that say "drive there" - I'm sorry you think that way. I guess you like paying for unnecessary things? (Parking, gas, sitting in traffic, *****ing)... ? Anyway, public transportation + bicycle = win.

I ride my bike so much for training that I've never really worked in the commuting thing. Plus I'd be even more tired all the time. I can't commute to work; I would have to be rolling by 5:45 AM, there would be nowhere to shower when I got there and I haven't figured out how to keep the shirt and slacks pressed when I put them in the backpack. I've never commuted to social events because I can't figure out what I'd do with my lycra and cleats. It's great that people do it, I just don't see it working for me. I'm guilty of most of what you say but I've never paid to ****.

I think your **** was missing a letter, 'cause mine started with a b, ends with an h, was 5 asterisks long. Not an f. If your four letter word started with an s and ended with a t, have you ever paid for a toilet? ;) HA!

Anyway, I haven't paid for a **** (f) either, and never will. :D

I live near downtown but haven't been near the Staples Center since this on-going construction began. Is there a Starbucks or anything similar at street level?

11th & Grand is the nearest $tarbuck$, street level as of 11/17/08 @ 10 am PST.

on 11/18, however - there might be 4 or 5 in the area. They tend to spread like fungi in 5 min old coffee ;)

I swear I've put four letter words in here and seen them come up with a different number of asterisks. Anyways you guessed mine right. I don't pay to ***** either and don't know who does, that is why I guessed your asterisks wrong because I really didn't think of that.

I was going to say.... although I don't pay for it, I never would consider ****ing to be an unneccesary activity.

Good point. I didn't pay attention to the adjective. I jumped to conclusions because I couldn't think of anything else that would be asterisked and paid for as well.
