hi im new here. my name is buddy. im not experienced at all with frame building. i would like to try putting together a frame. the idea of riding on something i put hours of time and effort into is really appealing. i plan on asking my neighbor for help with the welding (hes an experienced welder with all the equipment). i was just wondering what the best place to start is. i'd like to try to put together a steel track frame with correct geometry etc. can anyone suggest a starting point? id appreciate any positive advice or ideas. thanks a lot and sorry if this has been asked thousands of times.

The Paterek Manual (http://www.henryjames.com/patman.html) is a good starting point.

If you have the time and money, UBI (http://www.bikeschool.com/) in Ashland, Oregon has framebuilding classes.

Check to see if you can find plans online. They may cost some $$ but the design help may be worth it.
