Has anyone tried the eggbeaters pedals?

They seem cool, easy to use and not a bad price

I bought 2 sets when they were on sale for $59 about a year ago before the Ti models came out. These are one of the easiest MTB pedals to get in and out of.......far easier than SPDs, IMO. I've got them on my fixed gear road bike. They're great pedals........I've seen them around now for $89 for the croMo spindles.

I have had a pair of eggbeaters for over a year now. I love them. I'm not much of a weight weenie, but when I can get a durable, lightweight product at a low price, why not?

I find them just as easy to get into as other pedals, if not easier. I have never had an inadvertant release.

Although they are on my road bike, I use Sidi mountain shoes. I just hate walking on the cleats. They now offer road cleats for the eggbeaters. Anyways, I have also had Look road pedals. I liked the Looks. However, I found them hard to get into and it was tough to pedal with them if you were not clipped in (for those moments when you gotta get going, but can't seem to clip in right away). I think it depends on what kind of riding you do though. I find myself having to clip in and out a lot, so the eggbeaters better suit my needs. I even did a century on the eggbeaters. No problems or discomfort.

100% agree with ya DanR. I too use Garne mountain bike shoes because I like the traction at the cafe'

I was an SPD nut for the past 3 years when carbon sole shoes solved the SPD hot spot problems. The beaters are compat. with my mountain shoes and when the bearings started to go on my old pedals I decided to try the beaters. So far I am very satisfied with the results. I don't miss the SPDs and my ability to clip in and my ability to transfer power are equal or better than with the SPDs. I'm staying with the beaters...

I just upgraded my bike to the beaters. I'm in love! The four sided entry is the best part; its always a peice of cake to clip in. It took me several rides to get used to them, I found they were a lot stiffer clipping in than my other pedals.

:p I have Candy SL, which are eggbeaters with a small platform around it. They just came out with them not to long ago. Took my first ride on them this morning (I practiced in the trainer for several hours yesterday, just to get the feel of them). I haven't ridden clipless in over 3 years so I was a little worried about doing it again. I like the Candy because if I miss getting into the pedal the first time, I can still pedal, find the spot, and then clip in. Even though they are suppose to be a mountain bike pedal, I use them on my touring bike. I do use mountain bike shoes.
I plan on going for another short ride this afternoon just to try them again. They were very easy to get into. I must say though that the very "first" time I tried to clip in they were kind of hard but after clipping in and out several times, they loosened right up. I think I am going to like them.
