Sure, although why deprive me of the spectacle of you taco'ing your wheel again? But I want a proper mountain bike to ride next time. I guess I'd better begin to haunt Craigslist for a cheap MTB.

I'll be available Saturday if your up for some snowy, icy, and generally stony fun. I'll probably go regardless, I need to get the bike off the trainer for a spin outside.

I don't have a bike suited for that trail. I'd be happy to come out to Harrisburg for a road ride, or a gravel or paved trail. But not that 50 mile rock garden called Stoney Creek! PM me. You could also come out here,if you like. I'll take you somewhere other than Philadelphia.

From my blog, half a year and 17 Neils on Wheels rides later:

"I don't often meet men named Neil, so when the opportunity to ride with one came up, I grabbed it with both hands. Neil Fein, a poster to Bike Forums, took the train down from central New Jersey to Philadelphia for a day of riding in Fairmount Park and along the bike paths in the area. We were blessed with wonderful weather, bright sun and temperatures in the low to mid 80s.

"Perhaps it was the wonderful weather. Perhaps it was the excitement of forming a friendship with a stranger. Perhaps it was the four hours of sleep the two of us got, or the combination of daring and stubbornness that is typical of the Neil psyche. But when I discovered Neil wanted to work up to riding 50 miles, I said "why wait? Let's do it today." And Neil said yes.

"We didn't get to 50 miles, but we both had fun. I met Neil at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station about 9:45 AM, and we rode for a bit more than three hours along the Schuylkill Trail, around the Art Museum, Italian Fountain, Boathouse Row, on Kelly Drive, and into Manayunk. There were stops for water, lunch, and a trip to a bike shop as well. All told Neil did about 30 miles; I clocked about 33. This gave Neil a new high for mileage in a single day, and put me over 100 miles for the week."
