I will be in the Port Orange area from 1/25 to 1/31 is their any good riding there I shouldn't miss out on? I plan on riding some bike trails at Ocala Nat. Forest at some point and I've already ridden on the beach side out toward the Ponce Lighthouse, but I'm still looking for other good rides. I've also ridden around New Smyrna Beach area, but this was all on my own without any local guidance so I don't know if I missed any spectacular areas or not. Thanks.

I don't know how far you are from Ocala, But Santos is the best riding up in that area. for info and directions on it go to www.goneriding.com (http://www.goneriding.com) click on events and look for a race scheduled at Santos and there is info for directions. Check it out hope your close because it is the best riding in Florida.

Just to throw something out there for you. There is the Tour de Orlando winter metric century ride on Jan 26. It is about an hour or so from Port Orange; but would be closer than Ocala. Not sure if you can get away from it, but it looks fun. I am going to visit my brother that weekend & try to ride it also.

Just a few miles North of Ponce Inlet is the infamous "Loop" (Ormond Beach area) which winds though the Tomoko Park and refuge. Its got to be one of the better rides on the East Coast of Florida, imho. No hills but, the scenery is gorgeous. Most of it is over protected wetlands. See the link below and, click on "Local Ride Routes" then, the "Don Spence's Tour de Loop" link. There are other good ride links shown but, the Tour de Loop is one not to miss. You will see lots of cyclists on this route and, you can choose your distance.
