View Full Version : Yo guys, nice dress clothes.

Just curious what the dudes of foo do for nice clothes. Like for dates and stuff.

Since I've been going out with this girl, I've gotten 3 dress shirts(light pink, black/blue, light blue), a sweater, some church shirts, a few new ties, and am building a collection of lacoste polos. Which is funny because before that all I would wear is t-shirts and ripped jeans.

What kinds of bargain deals do you guys find? I go to marshalls and places like that finding typically 80$ calvin klein shirts for 25-30.

what do you guys wear for dress up?

I like polos and dress shirts. The kind that aren't solid color but aren't plaid.

marshall's lost the plot a long time ago.

the places i do my clothes shopping don't have california franchises (at least that i'm aware of), so the only suggestion i can give is to check out bluefly.

btw - wtf is a "church shirt"?

Seriously....I don't dress up much. My work clothes aren't that dressy, but I like to shop at K&G. I don't know if they are "everywhere", but we had one in Tampabay (FL) and there is one here (Seattleish).

I have two long-sleeved shirts that are fairly presentable, and one suit which I've only worn to my grandmother's funeral. Literally 99.9% of the time I wear jeans and a T-shirt or long sleeved T-shirt. I just don't have many occasions to dress up for. :o

There's one over by Serramonte, Jon. Across the freeway before the car dealerships.

How are you able to afford dress clothes now? Did you get that job?

I know, we have a nordstrom rack too, that's slightly less expensive, but still fairly expensive.

I really like the stuff at Macy's as X said. They have awesome silk and cotton dress shirts from tons of brands. Anyone fond of Countess Mara ties?

The dress clothes have been a build-up of over 4-5 months. Maybe one thing a month, with the pittance of money I get from helping my dad or doing an occasional job for someone. I find really good deals aswell.

if you're looking for 'dress clothes', then i suggest you spend your cash on one or two nice things, rather than lots of crap.

Since getting married and having kid's, I now shop at the Goodwill. I just bought a really nice North Face Jacket there yesterday for 6 bucks and got an LL Bean one in the fall.

Define crap?

Most shirts are cotton or silk, I can't really tell quality from one to another. I have a calvin klein shirt which was quite a bit more expensive than this no name brand pink shirt I have. If I iron them, they both look just as good.

there's plenty of difference between one cotton shirt and another: cut, material, construction, design...

My guess is the plain white shirt worn by good LDS missionaries everywhere. With tasteful tie, naturally :p .

Oh yes, church shirt, just a word I use, a white shirt that you wear a tie with, or any colored shirt you wear a tie with.

You can't just walk around naked. You have to at least be wearing a sock.

I get my dress/work clothes at Men's Wearhouse. Reasonable prices, and most importantly, stuff that fits properly. Not easy to find things that fit right when you're built like Sasquatch.

Botto, you sound a bit like Stacy and Clinton on What Not to Wear. While I agree, well tailored clothes look better, sometimes you just gotta go with the budget. I by nature tend to eschew effete designer labels (for some reason, clothes with labels like that always seem ostentatious).

So I congratulate Pheard for his attempts at classing up, now if we could give him a better eye for color.:D

Now it's just 100% pima cotton starched button-down shirts and dress pants to cover my expanded waistline.

i have found that shopping at Daffy's, H&M and Century 21 is resonably economic, fashionable, and well-lasting in regards to button downs, ties, belts, socks, some sweaters/pull-overs, scarves, gloves, bags, and accessories in general.

shopping at Express is really only for my pants...they seem to be the 'ones' that fit, I just get them hemmed. they also have some nice shirts, but it seems some times they are a lttle too 'Gotti' for me.

JCrew:look for ties on sale. :D
BR: look for any/everything on sale. :D

shoes are usually from Aldo, BR, or I get them overseas when I visit back home.

hope that helps.

Nice clothes for dates? There's no need to dress up for a woman unless it's a special occasion.

You should be happy in your own skin and the woman should like you for who you are and how you dress.

With that being said, nothing finishes off a good outfit like a nice sport coat or blazer.

ignoring the dating wardrobe issue,

i own:

two tuxedos
two suits
two sport coats
several pairs of dress trousers
several dress shirts
lots of casual khakis
very few polo shirts

that said, day-to-day i usually wear jeans and a t-shirt (or shorts and a t-shirt).

i like wearing nice clothes, it's just not something i have occasion to do very often. :(
