Ok after much sandbagging on this site I finally registered to become part of this community as for I am over 6ft tall and well!!! over 200lbs. I am trying to find out what people are running for tires as for I am brand new to the road bike thing. I just purchased a new bicycle yesterday after much research ( mostly on here) and ended up with a 63cm Raw aluminium Cannondale Caad9 5 with 105 components, I should have my new ride in a few weeks because I decided on a wheel upgrade to Velocity Deep V wheels and Ultegra hubs. I am also looking for any suggestions coming into this world of road riding.

700X26 Soma Everwears here. I love em!
I have the same bike, color and wheels. I put Michelin Krylion 700*23 on my wheels and I can tell you they are extremely tough to get on. Easy to remove, but make sure you have strong hands to get them on. I had to put the Maxxis Fuse tires back on it after my rear Michelin got sliced up pretty good by a nasty piece of debris and once I realized how hard the Krylion's were to get on, I have yet to replace it. I love the Krylion, but taking 5 mins to put a tire on made me start looking at other alternatives. The Maxxis tires that came with the bike went on the Deep V's very easily and so far have given me no issues at all. I figure I will just use these until they need to be replaced to give them a solid chance before replacing. I figure I'm not racing, so I don't need to spend a lot of money on tires and who knows, I might really like them.

Conti Ultra race and Kenda Kaliente (700x23) on my main roadie. Kenda is 'bout to be replaced with a Hutchinson.
Huchinson Fusion Comp (650x23) on my being-built tri bike.
If you need to stock up, PricePoint has Hutchinson Quartz kevlar bead for $10 right now. I picked up a pair for the wife's bike last week.

I use Michelin Pro 2 Race, 700x25. They seam to wear well -- I've got about 2000 miles on mine, and they still look good and perform as new.
I'm running the Worksman brand 26x2.125 road-tread tires that came on my bike.
On my previous mountain bike, it was Walmart tires (Bell brand, I think).
700x35 to 700x38. No rim pinch flats since I stopped using tires smaller then 700x30. Total weight on tires varies between 240 and 265 pounds.
Currently I'm running Conti SportsContact 26x1.3 front and back and they roll beautifully. Big difference from my 1.95 knobbies!!
Well my tires were picked for flat resistence as I ride through construction areas, truck depots and past a college campus or two.
I have 700x25 Armadillo All Weather (newer style) on my merlin. They absolutely barely fit in the rear <1mm of clearance but ride really great.
On my big bike (fuji touring xtracycle) I have 700x32 Marathon Plus and oddly again the rear barely fits in the xtracycle. I just have bad luck with tires fitting I guess.
Between them I have gotten over 4k since last may with only two slow leaks. One in the marathon plus's caused by a roofing nail stuck in them. The other I think I caused myself in remounting the tires. Well I hope it was my fault because I sitll haven't found a reason for it and I'm going out tommorow in 20 degree weather for my 42+ mile rt commute.
Overall I like the Armadillos better because the marathon plus just feel sooo much slower but then again it could be the fuji is over 3x the weight of the merlin.
I'm running Conti GP4000 700X25.
Conti Gatorskin 700X23 on my Look, Gatorskin 700X25 on my steelie.
No issues with pinch flats on either @220lbs. Very few flats overall but they're not invulnerable.
I use the Michelin Pro 2 Race 700 x 23. Like them so far, but since I'm new to road biking I don't have much else to compare to. :p
Currently on Conti Attack / Force. I don't like them, but I found them dirt cheap online so I thought I'd give them a chance.
I have a few Conti GP4000 700X23's ready to go after those wear down (which will be soon).
Waiting to find Conti Gatorskin 700X23's on sale on ebay.
I feel so fat running 32's :(

+1 for the Michelin Pro 2 Race 700 x 23's........Ran them on 2 bikes in 07 for about 2500 miles between the 2 bikes and it looks like they will make it all this year too. Only had 2 flats as well.

Bontrager Race Lite 700x28 on the rear with a Race Lite Hardcase 700x25 on the front, both kept at 120 psi at all times. Previously I had 6 flats between my two Race X Lite 700x25 tires before upgrading. Since I changed the tires, my experience has been zero flats, which is a good thing since the hardcase tires in particular are a pain to install.

Should I be worried? I have already done around 500 km on it and it has been fine.

If they aren't cracked in the sidewall and still are flexible I guess don't be too worried. I can't say whether you should be worried at all though but you migth avoid bombing down hills at over 40mph and leaning into turns hard of that kind of crazyness.
Personally I rode the original tires that I got on a used schwinn le tour IV (from the last year they were built in chicago) and they rode well until I replaced them with something more modern with flat protection.
I weght in the mid 220's and am running Michilen Pro2's size 25 mm on my current wheels. my new wheelset will have GP 4000s also 25 width. I used to ride 23's and man what a difference in comfort. THat plus make sure your riding them without maxing the pressure out. I ride at 100 cc(I think that's the right term) of pressure. They stick to the road well, and even on my all Aluminium bike/seat post combo I'm comfortable out to 45 miles so far. Plus there is lots of data that shows the rolling resistance is better than the 23 or smaller tires.
I'm running Conti GP 4000S tires with the emphasis on the "S" They are the new model of the GP4000 series and came out around last June. Very different from the older and much slower GP4000 with a new "Black Chili" compound. The older 4000 tires are pretty slow compared to about a half a dozen other tires. The German Tour Magazine rated them highest overall according to 5 categories including; weight, rolling resistance, wet cornering, puncture resistance and wear .
I am currently riding Bontrager Jones ACX tires, 29x2.2, folding, tubeless ready on Bontrager Rythym wheels. I hope to be trying the full tubeless route soon.
Before going tubeless, I might try the Continental Mountain King tire in a 29x2.4 inch width for more floatation.
Of course NONE of this helps you out unless you run OFF-ROAD!
Michellin Pro Race 2 700x23, I chnged the rear tire after 2,200 miles, but still have the same one on the front. To tell you the truth the only reason I put a new rear one was of so many cuts and scrapes from the road or else it would still be clocking more miles.IMO they tend to have some lateral flex after 1,000 miles, for me the main center lining is solid, but the side walls a little thin. They seem to be built for light riders, I am 170 with 23 tires and still feel they could be a little stiffer. They are a pain to install, super tight fit.

I have become partial to Vredestein Frotezza TriComp 700 x 23c. I can put 145psi in them and seem to get better life and wear out of them. My lbs ran a special 2 tires and 2 tubes for $80.00. I have atleast 3k on my front tire, am on my 2nd rear and am using the 1st rear for the trainer. Ride quality seems to be good, but what do I know.
