Dr. DRE

OK, so I'm building up my Soma Double Cross I asked about a couple of weeks ago. I'm setting up the Dura-Ace bar-end shifters with a Dura-Ace 9-speed FD and an Ultegra double crank.

It all works OK, but the swing on the shifter is only like 20 degrees. Is this how they work? I've never had a bike with bar-ends before and I've looked at the various LBSs to see if I could find one to check out, but there isn't one around, so I'm asking the friendly BF folks.

Second, if that is how it's supposed to work, where do those of you who are using this kind of setup stick the lever? Do you leave it pointing down, or do you put it somewhere in the middle or top of its travel?

Thanks for your help.

I figure most folk put the shifter into the slackest position, then pull the wire taut and clamp it to the derailleur. Or?
