so my mark v pro is FINALLY COMING and i am very excited. however, my GF, who is kindly bringing it down for me :)
so i am thinking, keep the 700c wheelset and the nice 23mm tires it came with to use on the track, and get a smaller wheelset with fat tires to use on the slippery roads in my hometown. i am looking at the 650b size, but it seems a pain in the ass to get a hold of anything good in this size!
what would you all think of lacing some 26" tires to some IRO flipflop hubs and rolling with some 1.5 or 1.95 tires? the overall rolling diameter would not be very different from the 700x23 settup! this would be awesome since i could keep my track wheelset at the track and ride in on my fatties, take them and the brake off, and switch it up in no time!
would I run into any unforeseen trouble?

no indeed, i will have to find some long reach brakes.

If it's a regular Mark V, Nothing, short of some fancy welding, will let you put brakes on it. Not to mention your bottom bracket will be very low, so your cranks will probably touch the ground.

I have 700C wheels with 30C front, 32C rear cyclocross tires on my Mark V. It's tight but there definitely is enough clearance. Adjusting the rear brake so it wasn't hitting the tire was a little tricky though (it's currently a singlespeed).

You won't really need smaller wheels to accomodate fat cyclocross tires.

Also this kind of question is more suited for the singlespeed/fixed-gear forum as this forum is really dedicated to track racing.

i posted here because i will be using the bike on the track, and want to use it for commuting to and from the track as well just changing out the wheelset (anybody else do this?)

The rear wheel has a Ritchey Speedmax and the front wheel has a Michelin Cyclocross Mud 2.
