Im not going to give anything away for those that havnt seen it yet (not that it would ruin an already ruined movie) just going to say that I was truly upset and would rate it at one of the worse movies Ive ever seen :( just one big giant piece of ****! Yeah, I hated it that much  and believe it or not I'm kinda easy to please when it comes to movies! but this "Cloverfield" movie was a waste of money, time, and sleep! (for me) only a few people walked out of the theater without asking for thier money back, jokingly but with that look of "NO, I'm serious! I want my ****ing money back!" look on thier faces. What a let down :( on the up side (kinda) we were given a quick glimpse of the new Star Trek movie, then the directors name popped up....you got it, the same POS that directed Cloverfield!

I know lots of people who loved that movie, I am one of them. I love satirical movies, especially when characters make fun of themselves.
Cloverfield only looked good because for the first time in recent memory, the entire plot wasn't given away in the commercial. I would still only rent it though.
I loved "Snakes on a Plane", as I don't do the cinema much I wait for Cloverfield on Netflix.

I took a look at some of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It looks like a video rental--DVD or Unbox--at most, as far as I'm concerned. Hell, I got queasy during Blair Witch Project, so it'd probably be best if I can hit the pause button for a little while anyway.
I enjoyed Snakes on a Plane, but I don't think I've heard of this one. If it's another SOAP, it might be worth a rent someday. :)

From the commercial and the trailers, I made up my mind that the unseen monster could be my BFF if he would kill the central cast of idiots in the most painful way possible.

Well since bluebottle1 mentioned it Ill just say it out right, if you suffer from motion sickness DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE! my wife hurled, my youngest came damn near, my oldest got dizzy and had to turn away from it for a while, I got dizzy and caught a bad headache, all because the ass wipe director decided to film the whole movie in "first person" view! that camera didnt stay still for one moment! it was like a drunk guy filming a movie on a boat! IT SUCKED!!

I really want to see it.... in the theater. Reason? Seems like even if a bad movie, it would have special effects, sound, and a general "large" feeling which would be lost as a rental.
There are some movies that are just better at the theater.
Is that a good enough reason to see it? My girl HATES scary movies, so I'd have to trick/drag her to it.
Oh yeah, and I almost ALWAYS prefer movies which i have seen NO trailers for. I prefer my friends take me to movies which I've never heard of.

Are you from Australia? The reason I aks is I frequent a motorcycle board and a member of that board (from Australia) wrote darn near the same review as above. Too bad, the commercials had me excited, but this is three reviews I've read now that basically state that the movie is a steaming pile o crap.

Nah ... they will wait to end ... answer a few questions you might have and then make you wait for the sequel to reveal the monster ... and then in the sequel do the same thing. Frustrating as hell, but I guess I am glutton for punishment since I keep coming back each season of Lost.

Fair enough, I actually end up waiting for the season to end. I find the show annoying in the traditional 1hour a week with every 7 weeks a 4 week break and then a review episode (I HATE review episodes....HATE HATE). Watching them back to back keeps the flow of the show better.
and yes I enjoy it too haha
I'm wating for LOST to be FOUND the series end and I'll watch it on DVD.

Well I hope I will like what they did this season. By waiting until the end of January to start the season, there isn't supposed to be the two month break midseason. Although I am concerned how far they got on shooting and such before the writer's strike. I agree with you though, review episodes suck! I get all excited about a new episode, only to turn it on and find out its a recap of the season so far.

OMG! LOST! I was "lost" after the "I see ghost" episode! freaking polar bears in the tropics, invisible monsters, secret testing, blah! blah! blah! blah! blah! Its like they're making **** up as they go! Its a show that has two purposes, 1) keeping the watchers hooked by adding nonsense on top of nonsense and 2) doing so just for ratings. This is how it goes, writer#1," Hey! How about we add an invisable monster!" writer#2, "Yeah! an invisible monster!" writer#3, "What the hell does an invisible monster have to do with anything?" writer#1, "Who cares! We can make something up later!" writer#3, "Yeah, if we dont get cancelled first!" not raggin on you MightyTACO ;) just shows MY taste in Movies/shows :) I just might be the one with bad taste in films! ;)

I felt the same way about Cloverfield. After the first 15 minutes or so of the initial "party," I was anxious for the monster to come along and start slaughtering the characters. While it wasn't a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, I found it at least entertaining enough that I didn't feel completely cheated out of the matinee price. Oddly enough, I am actually pretty hard to please when it comes to movies.

While Abrams only produced Cloverfield, I'm still guessing that his take on Star Trek won't be worth seeing. I mean, how do you make a movie based on the original Star Trek and refuse to find even a small cameo for Shatner?

Sorry to go off topic, but I've been wondering how that will play out. I think it would cool if the movie is kind of a tribute to Shatner/Kirk--maybe he died while having an orgy with a bunch of sexy aliens and Nemoy/Spock is giving his eulogy and having flashbacks of their time together.
In any case, I really hope Shatner and the franchise are done justice.

Nah, he died when the cross walk he was on collapsed in the "Nemisis" movie :( GOD! I'm the biggest geek! LOL! ;) EDIT: From what Ive found its about how the young crew meets at Starfleet Acadamy, although I dont know how thats going to work with Spock as he lives like a billion years longer than humans? unless they meet when their the same age in human years then Spock goes on to live out a natual Vulcan life span after everyone else kicks it? Cloverfeild sucked! Now I have to make it up and go see Juno with my wife. How bad was it received in my theater? Well, I live in a military town, and those Marines were pissed that the USMC was shown as incompetent. Since we went to the last show, all of the theater staff had left, save for the closing cleaning crew (think prison work release detail).
If Abrams screw up Star Trek this bad, he may find himself lynched by a bunch of Starfleet uniformed lifeless virgins. That fanbase can be as rabid as Dale Earnhardt worshipers.
I going to do what Stan and Kenny did after seeing The Passion except the wife and I, and maybe the couple that sat behind us, are going to go to Abrams house and get our money back. Stan and Kenny went o Mel Gibson's house.
