Thanks for the tip on the batteries Kevin. I'm almost sure the problem was the batteries since the camera only started giving me problems when I started using them. They were a pack of those ultra cheapo no-name alkalines. Camera would take about 2 photos, and after that would refuse to even power up completely. Once I pay off my CCard bills for the last few months (been spending way too much recently) I'll consider a camera.
