Did a search without an answer.
Here is the issue. Trying to match a Drua Ace 7700 silver wheel. Need the rear, 9 speed. No real luck on ebay over the last 2 months of looking.
My LBS says Shimano does not make the rims they put on their wheels although did not say who does make them. Anyone know the skinny on this? Who makes their rims? So perhaps I can find a matching rim, sans decals and get a rear wheel built on a Dura Ace hub.
Or any source of some place they might have the wheel I am looking for NOS?
Or can a 7700 freehub be used on a 7800 wheel?
Thanks for your help.

Not sure about the rest, but I would assume a 7700 hub can work with a 7800 wheel just fine. If the hub width and flange diameter, not to mention spoke count, are identical, it would be an easy transplant.
Otherwise I would assume that you can just get a comparable rim and calculate the spoke length yourself (calculations are beyond me) and get that built. I can't think of a problem, but I haven't built a Dura Ace wheel before so.

There are a pair of the 7700-wheel-specific hubs on ebay currently, if my memory serves me correctly.

Getting Dura Ace 7700 hubs is not the problem. I have the front wheel and would like to match the rims on both wheels. There are almost always DA wheels on ebay but they usually have Mavic rims.
The DA rims look alot like Velocity but I would love for someone more knowledable than me to confirm or not on that.

Wow, lack of interest on this one. Will try the Road fourm. Thanks anyway.
You mean these guys? Is there a variant with a silver rim?

It doesn't appear that the rim is sold as a replacement part so I don't know what good a hub will do you.

Not the wheel. Silver rims with the Dura Ace logos(Dura Ace is in black lettering and the rest of the decal is silver) 16 aero spoke stainless front with a silver hub. Sorry my camera is at home and the rim is in front of me at my office. I am pretty sure the matching rear is a 20 spoke.
The rims look alot like Velocity rims but I am no expert. They look very much like the current R600 or 6600 Ultegra level wheel but you can not slap a 9 speed hub on that wheel due to the internals per Sheldon.

If the downgrade won't offend you, Shimano's WH-R560 wheelset looks just like you are describing. Silver "areo" rims, 16H laced radial in front, 20H radial ds, 2X nds for the rear. The freehub body, unlike the Ultegra and Dura Ace wheelsets, will accept any 8,9 or 10-speed cassette. These typically sell for less than $200 a set these days.

No offense taken but I was really trying to get a matching set of wheels. I have looked at that wheel and yes it is very close. Maybe someone out there knows if the only difference is the decal? And the hub of course. Not much info on the web either on this wheel so any leads on a better place to look would also be appreciated.

One picture will solve everyones question of "what rim you are talking about".

Sorry, I guess tone-of-voice doesn't come across very well on internet forums as my comment was intended to be facetious, not a put-down. I should have added a :)
Seriously, the WH-R560 does look very much like you were describing and the rims may be the same, or at least very close. The hubs are obviously different.

If anyone can help. Here are the wheels in a 10 speed hub BUT I am looking for the same rear wheel in a 9 speed hub.
