It wouldn't be advisable.

It's not "advisable" to drink while taking any painkiller - codeine, darvocet, vicodin, whatever. Nothing special about darvocet in that regard.

So, if I have a martini tonight, that's O-K?

Hey!!! Hey!!!! I don't care if I drop dead in a pool of drool...my shoulder just stopped hurting. OMG! I feel nothing. The rusted ice-pick-screwdriver that has been sticking between my shoulder blades just melted away. I love this Darvecet!!!! :D

I don't have anything to do a webcam with, Dave. Or I'd gladly drool for all of you on camera. :p

merider1

Oh, I'm sorry, guys. I'm not joking, but I'm not dying (sorry, Bernie!). I just thought I was going to get sick again. So, I tried heaving but unless I put my finger down my throat, it's not happening. I'm too sensitive. Then, I took a shower (I feel better). I'm going over Vertical Bob's place in a bit to help him upload pics, so I had to shower. :o

There is a reason why it's supposed to be taken with food. Did you take the codeine on an empty stomach, too?

ME…There is cycling after a fall. I know how your shoulder is hurting, they don’t make enough drugs. When I went down it was a separated shoulder, collapsed lung and broken ribs. It was a while before I got back on the bike, seven weeks, but look at me now I’m doing doubles and triples.

 For your info, I DID take food with the codeine. My doctor told me today that the Darvacet wouldn't hurt my stomach and it does not have directions on the bottle to take it with food like the codeine did. I just have a weird stomach (I've had ulcers).

Yeah, but what drugs are you on?

Hey, Dante, believe me, I'm not being sorry sack. Other than my trial and error with the pain pills, I'm in great spirits. I plan to do a tiny ride on 2/3. That's my goal. Even if for just a few miles.

I crashed two weeks ago on GMR (well, GRR). Was knocked out for 30 seconds or so, ended up with some bleeding on the brain (about the size of an pencil eraser according to the catscan) and a separated shoulder. I was in the hospital for a couple days for observation, and then because I started vomiting and couldn't keep down food. I did get to rest and take morphine every few hours, though. :o

Take it easy, don’t rush it, we all know you’re tough but don’t hurt yourself trying to get out there early, PLEASE.

And then I fell and I'm perfectly fine except for my stupid pulled shoulder ligament and yet I've whined, *****ed, moaned and groaned far more than John has. :p But in my defense, I got ZERO morphine!

The whole world takes on a different view with morphine. But then they kick you out of the hospital and everything starts to suck again, the pain is back.:(

It will get better, trust me. Do you believe that? I have a bridge I can sell you. No it will get better, I was off the bike for seven weeks and had therapy during that time and it hurt.

Dude, have you HAD a darvoceet? I can't feel my tongue right now.

jpconrad

Darvocet is for mild to moderate pain, vicodin is for moderate to moderately severe pain! :)

Dude, have you HAD a darvoceet? I can't feel my tongue right now.

If that's the case, I'm not making you cookies or brownies with the usual potency. Darvoceet is fairly weak by comparison to Vicodin... and when I was put on Vicodin (viral meningitis), it didn't do much with any effect.

bernmart

Vicodin is odd stuff. When I was in the hospital in Oct. of 2006 (brain surgery), they'd give me the stuff and it made the mild pain go away, but no dramatic effects, and I could easily do without it. I've known others to be knocked on their asses by vicodin. I still have a bunch of it that I never bothered using when I came home.

Hmm.
