Bicycle Mechanics - I need more threads on my steer tube!

I was building my new De Bernardi SLX tonight and installed the Record headset. I started to put the fork together and noticed I need more threads to cinch up the assembly. Can I take the fork to a shop and just have them chase and thread the steer tube more?

The problem is I can't screw down the top race to the top bearing. I have a 1" spacer but that goes above the lock washer after the race is cinched down. I need another 1/4" of theads. I think the company sent me the next size fork for a 60cm frame.

I asked this question recently, the best course of action is to find a qualified LBS with a full Campy tool ensemble with their robust steerer thread dies. They will cut the cleanest threads and butcher the fork less.
