I am sluggish and wheezy, but dammit I need a decent ride tomorrow. I'm going to head out to Poway, up to Hwy 67 and do a loop back to the coast via Highland Valley/Bandy Canyon and Del Dios.
Jason? Dave? Anyone?

Yeah! I was thinking of hitting the SDBC crit clinic*, but I guess a ride sounds better. :D
*Don't mean to race. Just thought they may teach some high speed cornering/braking maneuvers like in a car racing class.
That was exactly the route I was thinking of doing tomorrow. Where should we meet, and when are we rolling?

Anytime from 6:30am onwards is good for me.
Is it doable with 2 water bottles or should I bring a camelback?
Heading out for dinner. Will be back. :D
sorry, going wine tasting in Temecula tomorrow
Well, I'm headed out to grab a bite to eat. Umm, I'm a bit out of shape and would like to leave no later than 10 AM to ensure plenty of daylight hours. :o But other than that, I'm cool with any start time and any start location. I'd propose 8 AM at one of our homes (don't care which one). But whatever you guys want is fine with me. Just pick something, and I'll check on this thread after dinner.

Doh!
Dan, pick a start time between 6:30 and 10 and a start location, and we'll see you there, I guess.
Well, Dave and I are off to RB to carboload. According to Extort, beer is good carboloading... maybe we'll bump into N and get some subsidized beer.

football game, I'm out I forgot....
8:30 at Starbucks sounds fine to me. That's basically right across the street from where I live.

Is there a Starbucks at Costa Verde? Lower level (BistroFarm, Blockbusters, McD), or upper level (USPS, Trophey's)?
Sure, I'll be there at 8:30am. I'll have my cell phone. :)

I guess I'll treat it like Stagecoach then. :p
Thanks for a fun ride, Indolent and Dave. Sorry I held you guys back in the second half... I guess I went out too hard on the first half. Right now, all my climbing muscle groups (spinning, going hard in the saddle, going hard out of the saddle, going tempo out of the saddle, whatever other muscle groups there might be) really hurt right now. I think I'll limp in to RB for dinner later in hopes that someone might take pity on me and buy me a beer. But for now, there's football to watch.

It was fun! No need to worry, Jason. I've held all of you back plenty of times. Once you get back in shape, I'm sure I'll be left in the dusts. Even with Dan's asthma issues right now, he's still killing me on flats and downhills, and we're about the same on the climbs. :p
Final stats for me:
- 74.75 miles
- 5h24m28s ride time
- 13.8mph avg
- 5210 ft (the last Town Center Dr climb net me an extra 100 ft)
- 2337 calories (based on hr & 145 lbs; that should take care of the venti cafe mocha, glazed donut, and beef burrito)

Elevation profile (may have an offset error). Our speeds are pretty similar throughout the ride. Red dot indicates a non-traffic related stop/rest.

A great day to ride. 74 miles and 5500 ft on a sunny cool day. My asthma was there all day but did not get worse. The main impact was having to take hills slower than normal. We saw lots of evidence of damage from the fire along Highland Valley and Bandy Canyon including many destroyed homes. Still the overall visual impact of the fire was not as dramatic as I was expecting. We took a long lunch break about 50 miles into the ride where I tried somewhat in vain to get the guys in the proper posing spirit.

jschen and DaveSANYYZ posing at the Starbucks @ Via Rancho Pkwy. They seem weirdly resistance to the idea of taking the PAM challenge. I don't get it. Since I already posted my January pose, they are on their own here.

cool pics, I've yet to climb to the 67 that way, only on poway grade. My legs were shot today anyways, I'd died if I went with you all;)

Dave's Colnago looks sweet (as do the other bikes, of course)!
I rode it around at the start. It is sweet!
