A few months ago I bought a Bontrager XXX Lite seatpost on eBay. With all of the negative comments here on BF about carbon seatposts, I have decided not to use it. I noticed a large amount of yellow epoxy (?) on the inside of the post where the carbon meets the metal. I would like to find out if this is normal before selling an accident waiting to happen on eBay. Is this seatpost OK? Thanks for any opinions.

If its a new seatpost I wouldnt worry about it. Carbon posts are pretty strong. If used improperly a aluminum or ti post will break also. With carbon if you clamp it to tight and crush it it will weaken but otherwise they are fine to use

The seatpost is not new, I was trying to see if maybe it was re-epoxied. If anyone has a seatpost similar to this one, maybe a look inside would reveal a glob of epoxy like mine, or not? I guess if it's OK I could just use it.
