Go thru Carbon Canyon, left on Kraemer straight down to the trail right near the big ugly yellow and blue hotel.

From Rivrside Dr, up on Peyton, right on ChinoHills Pkwy (?), left inot Carbon Caynon.

BTW, if you go Brea Cyn, you will end up near the 57 and State College. You will then have to go Lambert to Kraemer, then down to the trail.

SART is more of a state of mind than an actual trail as such. Trying to map it would ruin everything.

Hi all! Does anyone know a good way to bicycle from Chino (Pomona) to Huntington Beach area? I was looking on the map and it looks like the Santa Ana river bed is a good way south, but how do I get from Chino to Santa Ana bed? Do I take Brea Canyon? Does anyone have any suggestions?!

See thread below. Worked well. Did the HB to Chino Hills on Thursday and reversed it the next day.

Must have a real Zen quality to it. What else would account for Mr. Beanz being so mesmerized.:D

Here is a route I have used twice. Mind you I am comfortable on high volume roads with narrow shoulders.

Just go down highway 71 to the 91 Freeway. Take the shoulder of the 91 to the next exit at Green River Road. Exit there. Continue on down Green River Rd to the entrance to the golf course where the Santa Ana River Trail starts. Take the SART to the coast bike path and turn right to the Huntington Beach Pier. Yes, as late as 200 when I last rode there the 71 and that part of the 91 are legal for bikes.

Last time I checked, bikes were no longer allowed on 71. That was about 2 years ago. Besides, it has changed so much, don't think I'd want to ride it anymore!

Well from what I've been told by several other riders is that I like it cause it's flat, easy and I'm a BIG SISSY!:D

I don't know Orange County at all...

I missed the full pdf the first time I went, all I saw was the map with the grids that split the SART into different sections and since you couldn't scroll across, so it wasn't that useful. The full pdf didn't look to bad though. I like the LA County Metro Bike map better.

It was 42 miles from my house in Chino Hills. Time, well as I was on my own, kinda just crusing and not really wooried about how quick I did this, I think it was close to 4 hours (stopped some, etc). This is not a difficult ride as it is pretty flat, Brea Canyon cut-off and Grand are really the hills here.

oops....add some hills and time through Carbon Canyon. Me personally aint riding through CC, just to narrow and there a lots of idiots behind the wheel on that road. If you do this, be very careful. Sure, on the sponsered century's we all ride roads just like CC. The difference is that the cars on a "notice" that the ride is happening, through signs, etc, AND the 100's tp 1000's of riders all over the road. When your the one rider on CC, well your just that and lots more difficult to see and "respect".

I did this route on Saturday morning (in the rain:) The route through Brea Canyon was really nice. I especially liked riding in Diamond Bar. The road kind of gets rough in Brea Canyon, there's not much shoulder there. I was in luck that my bike has 700c wheels, they handles dirt and gravel well.
Thanks to all for suggestions. I'll be riding this route more often this summer! :)
