Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My bike uses presta valves. Could i use schrader tubes on my bike? would the hole fit a schrader? i see some good prices on schrader tires not presta so i want to get those if they would fit.
presta holes are too small for shraeder

my presta valve has a nut around it that secures it, is it like this for all rims/presta valves?

Yes. Only presta has the threaded nut on them. You could have your rims drilled out to accomodate schrader but I see no real advantage to that.

I have drilled out many a rim for a customer. Just be sure to get all the metal shavings, or they'll quickly cut your tube. Also, make sure to file down any sharp edges.
The benefits of shraeder vs. presta is minimal when it comes to an off-road bike, but there are a few for either choice. To me it's a personal thing! Use whatever you prefer.
BTW, there are some adapters (reducers) that you can use on your rims if drilled out for schraeder to reduce down to Presta size.
