Ok, my cx bike has top tube routed cables.

I'm having difficulty with front mech choice. According to shimano specs, there isn't a mech out there that will work with 38/48 chainrings and top pull cable.

What do people out there use? At the moment I have an XT 8spd one, but I have to have the mech too high otherwise the inner part of the cage fouls on the inner chainring.

Would a 9spd XT be better? Or XTR? Or a crappy roller an a road mech?

Cheers,

Leon

I gather you are talking about a front derailleur? Sorry, "mech" is a new term for me.

In the UK derailleurs are often referred to as "mech"s (Short for gear mechanism).

ANywa, yup, front derailleur is what I'm talking about.

I ran a Deore mech with top routed cable and a 28-38-48 chainset on my old MTB frame without any problems.
