(I don't race - I'm the one behind the scenes setting up bike races/marathons, or am a race official - and I usually get a goody bag as well and I've never seen a lighter - did get the teensiest little 3/4 cup bag of brown rice - which is a healthy give away - but it was so darn small - it became - CUTE)

here's a little history on the run for any CT runners who might be interested. the run goes no matter the weather. i ran it one year in a blizzard with 2' deep drifts. fun.

I don't smoke any more, but I still keep lighters around. I bring them camping so I don't have to waste windproof matches lighting my stove, I use them for lighting candles when the power goes out, and lighting incense to cover the smell of wet dog after me and the puppy go jogging in the rain.
Useful, but yes... an odd freebie at a race.

It could have the metal band above the thumbwheel that needs to be pressed hard while flicking the wheel.
