Be careful out there, Tony. The wind has started to kick in.

Thanks Ron.

I made it safe and sound. The wind wasn't that bad. Its either I'm getting stronger or its because of my less than stellar speed.:D The wet bibs and leg warmers I think helped keeping my legs fresh too.

Oh, riding, splashing through the puddles was a lot of fun. The big grin on my face probably made me look weird to the car drivers. :D

I'm riding my fixed gear because I wear out my brake pads too fast in the rain on my single speed. My brakes are just for emergencies on the fixed gear, so they last. It's also my only full fendered bike.

Hey, if I'm wrong (and I hope I am) I'll be out to soak up some sun no matter how wet the road. I'm sun-starved.

I checked weather.com's ten day forecast:

Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, partly cloudy, rain, rain.

makes me think of the old Sesame Street song - "One of these things is not like the others..."

I have posted this on the Gore-Tex thread, but here's my ride today. I have been riding into SF during this rainy season and I have a 22-32 round trip commute from Daly City to SF downtown. It was raining hard all day yesterday and I was using my $300 Goretex raingear (pants and Jacket). They were working good for awhile until 30 mins into my ride, water started seeping into my Gore-tex fabric. Luckily I was warm enough during my coummute, but as soon as I got to work, I was drenched, soaking wet and cold! Luckily there was a shower stall at my work and I had it to take a hot shower before work to keep myself warm and prevent from getting sick. It was a horrible commute on the way home as well.

I went to Performance to see if they had any rain gear, but other commuters got to the rain gear I wanted so I went to Target. I found a rain gear set-up, top and bottom, by Eddie Bauer for $29.00 (at the camping section)! It had mesh and nylon lining, well ventilated from the, back, armpits and the velcro wrist straps. outer fabric I think were made of synthetic rubber and nylon. The hood and neck is well protected and formed symmetrically well around my head. For $29, I thought I'd give them a shot since I couldn't find anything that day and my Gore-Tex raingear were still wet from yesterday.

So yesterday was a perfect day to give my gear a test since it had been heavily raining all day. As for my gloves, I used latex gloves over them. I used my clear anti-fog tactical (ski) goggles ( $20 from Galls) for the harsh condition today, my clipless shoes had the all weather shoe cover from Performance and my sporty long johns from Target. I was ready to go. I suited up, put my hood over my baklava, then my helmet. At 130 pm, I was out on the road and it was raining hard, the streets were flooding, and the winds were picking up light debris. So 30 min. into the ride, the rain pounded into my $29 raingear, but it was keeping the water out and I was staying warm and dry! My goggles wasn't fogging up either and visibility were still good. I was having fun like a little kid playing out in the rain. When I got to work, I was dry from head to to toe (except my smiling face)! I had a great ride. I couldn't wait to finish work and do it all over again. Luckily for me, it was still raining and my adventure continues. It was a great ride as well.

Well, well, well. Mark Finan was right. Not actually sunny, but a high overcast, some wind, but most importantly, dry! Got out and did 50 windy miles.

It's raining hard again, I'll be off by 11pm. And my adventure continues. I think I'll take the Golden Gate park route tonight for a pitch dark commute and make use of my Niterider Trinewt and Nighthawk dual emitters and see or hear any squatters around there. Oh yeah, gotta watch out for any puddles, they may be open manholes. Be careful out there everyone..
