wet.
The weather here just has not been cooperating with getting rides in, and we have rain forecast for the entire week. I've done some sessions on the torture machine (aka trainer), but I really don't enjoy hopping on the trainer and just spinning for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. So today, I made the choice of getting a ride in no matter what. I waited a while this morning to see if there might be a break in the rain. When I saw it clearing a bit, I knew it was now or never.
Of course by the time I got suited up, gathered up my rain jacket, drybag for the cell phone, etc. It was raining again. Oh well, I was already geared up, might as well go.
I rode my LHT, outfitted with full fenders, which helped a lot. My feet did get wet, but with wool cycling socks on, it wasn't too bad. The rain stayed with me for the first half of my 17 mile ride, but a nice tailwind. Of course, I had to ride into the wind on the way back, but at least by then the rain had stopped for a while.
To be on the safe side, I ran my lights the entire length of the ride. Not sure if I really needed them, but its better to be safe than sorry.
Averaged 14mph for the trip, not bad considering the conditions. And while I was prepared for a dismal ride, it really was rather pleasant once I got going and not caring about the rain.
