The weather here just has not been cooperating with getting rides in, and we have rain forecast for the entire week. :mad: I've done some sessions on the torture machine (aka trainer), but I really don't enjoy hopping on the trainer and just spinning for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. So today, I made the choice of getting a ride in no matter what. I waited a while this morning to see if there might be a break in the rain. When I saw it clearing a bit, I knew it was now or never.
Of course by the time I got suited up, gathered up my rain jacket, drybag for the cell phone, etc. It was raining again. Oh well, I was already geared up, might as well go.
I rode my LHT, outfitted with full fenders, which helped a lot. My feet did get wet, but with wool cycling socks on, it wasn't too bad. The rain stayed with me for the first half of my 17 mile ride, but a nice tailwind. Of course, I had to ride into the wind on the way back, but at least by then the rain had stopped for a while.
To be on the safe side, I ran my lights the entire length of the ride. Not sure if I really needed them, but its better to be safe than sorry.
Averaged 14mph for the trip, not bad considering the conditions. And while I was prepared for a dismal ride, it really was rather pleasant once I got going and not caring about the rain.
