Straight up, what is your favorite mountain?

We have had threads about your favorite show, song, movie, etc, but seeing as how we are supposed to be more outdoors types of people lets get on to something, well, outdoors.

We could do lakes, oceans, seas, etc, but this is about mountains, and I don't mean hills and the definition of a hill us anything under 500 feet. Actually that isn't even a hill, just a bump. So lets keep it to MOUNTAINS.

Have at it.

Steven

Oh, I suppose I should mention mine.

Oh. and lets mention why you like it so much, a list of mountains would be rather boring. :)

I would mention Mt, Moffit on Adak Alaska, barren, desolate, cold and windy but containing the beauty and majesty of the rugged Aleutian Chain. Man I miss Adak one of the most magnificant spots in the world.

Mt. Si in North Bend, WA. Easy walk up, nice workout, I can bring my dog, and the scramble up The Haystack is hella fun (dog doesn't go up that part.)

Mt. Pilchuck in the winter for snowshoeing and some super fun glissades.

Squawk Mtn. in Issaquah for training on the bike: 1180' elevation gain, 2.25 miles to the top, 22% max grade.

You can see the lovely Mt. Moffett here along with some rather mundane photos along with some very nice photos and a couple of ugly bald eagles.

Mt. Evans, near Idaho Springs, CO. A 14er you can bike to the top of. Roughly 7,000 ft of elevation climb over 25-30 miles from Idaho Springs. A good days work.

Mt. Washington, NH

Nice view, and I don't know the names of any other mountains I've been too that I liked more.

not sure if it's a mountain per se, but Passo Giau is the first to come to mind. Probably because for it's provided the most painful hour of riding that I've done every year, for three consecutive years.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/31/Giau2.jpg

a close second would be the Campolongo, because the view never disappoints.

We have no real mountains over here, so I've never seen any. The highest elevation I've been (not counting flying) is 3480 ft... And that was a long ridge, so you wouldn't even call it a mountain if you saw it.

That's pretty spectacular, botto.

Mine would probably have to be Mt. Fuji... it's just so perfectly formed, and it really just stands alone... there are a couple of foothills around it, but nothing to distract from Mt. Fuji itself. It's shrouded in clouds most of the time, but when you see it in person, it's simply amazing. Or at least it was last time I saw it (about 1994)... I assume it hasn't changed too much ;)

Hehehe. Mt. Si (where me and the puppy go hiking) and the town of North Bend, WA are where a lot of the filming for the TV show Twin Peaks was done.

That thing is going to make Seattle into a modern day Pompeii, you know.

;)

Favorite Mountain? Hmm... Saying Gregor Clegane would be nerdish. And Blue Mountain broke up 7 years ago, so they don't count anymore.

I'll have to go with Mount Werner in Colorado. Steamboat's the first place I ever skied and it's still one of my favorite places in the world.

I think one of the great things about Mount Rainier is that because it's so cloudy here, on the times when we do get to see it, it seems so spectularly serene in the sun.
