I've got a 3 year old Kona Dew Deluxe that I commute on every day.
The main thing that's radically different from the stock configuration are the wheels and an addition of a front dynohub and light. This is a sturdy bike and isn't much affected by added load. I've pulled kid trailers, loaded panniers in different weather with confidence. As heavy as this bike is with velocity deep Vs and Schwalbe Marathons, it's geared low enough that I climb 8% hills all the time without complaint.
On longer rides (30-50 miles) the only thing that bugs me are the bars, as it's got a MTB style riser bar with those integrated MTB brake/shifter levers. I've considered swapping for midge bars and barcons, but thinking that's not money well spent at thist point.
My intent is to do some basic bicycle camping for a few days. Maybe ride 40-50 miles a day, that sort of thing. Any thoughts or suggestions for better equipping my rig?
Thanks.
