I just installed an additional 1GB RAM to my existing 512mb on my cheap beater laptop I use here at work to access Bikeforums and this thing now runs ten times faster! I've never owned anything this fast before! :p

Remember, it's not about being fast. It's about making it last.

Wait...you already are at 8 and if you are now 10 times faster I expect 80 daily posts from you...:p

...on a fixed bike no gears either...:)

When you get to our age, being fast is better than nothing.

So if I install 1GB of RAM in my crankset, does that mean I'll go 10 times faster?

All I know is that this cheap component upgrade I made on my laptop wins hand down in performance than any upgrade I've ever made on my bike, regardless of cost. :D

Upgrading computer memory is very "instant gratification", isn't it? And memory is cheap compared to many other upgrades...

EDIT...and easy to do it yourself...:)

EDIT...and easy to do it yourself...:)Yeah, even a dumb klutz like me was able to install it in like 5 minutes and I've never done this before. :D

Well, you are happy now but just wait a few weeks. Then you'll want carbon fiber RAM and then after that you'll want to upgrade your mouse wheel to aero versions. It never stops.

Yay for you! You just saved yourself a lot of time and money. Kinda like doing some bike repair yourself...

Now you can upgrade memory for your friends, too...:D;)

Plus, if it takes too long you may forget what you were doing.:D

Great upgrade George, 512 is barely enough to keep the operating system running.

They're doing fine, most of them are a lot younger than I so they're not too forgetful.
