Mountain Biking - A whole lot to say about nothing. And bike porn.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Has anyone seen NWD8 yet? I saw it at a premier in my town last year. It is probably the most progressive, insane, disgusting, jaw dropping, most annoying music bike film i have ever seen. the things they do are unbelievable. There's a huge bmx influence but it's very cool becuase you see people doing flipwhips on mountain bikes and spinning canyon gaps and crazy wall rides on mountain slopes and stupid sized gaps. I just got done watching some of it on youtube and now i think i am going to order it. On that note, does anyone know when the collective is going to release a new film? that'd be great if it was soon...

I am also getting tired of winter. Snowboarding is fun but too expensive and i want to ride my bike again. I think it's about time for us northwesterners to get together and explore the possibility of a spring or fall pacific northwest group ride. there seems to be a good representation of that region on the forum...

Anyways, thanks for listening. For everyone riding this winter, i commend you. may the weather be dry, your gloves warm, and the wind at your back. as for me, i will begin to prep my bike for the warmer weather and continue to lust for some suspension under my butt. happy trails to all!

Haha yeah, i want to get NWD 8. As for the riding, i haven't been doing much (mountainbiking). I've had school, and where I live in Southern California there aren't very many hills. I've mainly been riding my road bike around. Just did the Stagecoach century ride in San Diego actually. Hows the snow? It has never snowed here in Long Beach =P

eh. the snow is good. it's very cold though. but the snow is good. i bought a new snowboard this year and some nordic skis so i am happy to be getting lots of use out of both. i've been skiing more than snowboarding because i want to keep my cardio in good shape to make an easy transition to biking this year. we'll see how that goes...

Aside from spinning, can anyone suggest winter training methods to improve my biking preformance? I think skiing is going to do okay.

anyone else see the new NWD yet? i'm still blown away by some of the crazy stunts pulled off in that movie. Can't wait to watch it again...

Any cardio in a gym setting would work. If you're looking for something different than spinning on a trainer or stationary, try the cross-trainers, stair climbers, tread mills, etc. Swimming could also provide some good cardio. As far as handling skills, riding has always been the best way for me to practice those.
