Sorry to the naysayers, but I took a great ride up Mt. Diablo yesterday! My only concession to the weather (actually it was more due to time constraints) was that I rode up from the Athenian School, rather than North Gate. The conditions were great and the weather was actually pretty clear. All in all, an awesome ride and a killer workout on a day that was I supposed to be stuck indoors.

The bad news is that it took me 1:22 from the Athenian school to the top (motorcycle parking spot next to the observatory). That was pretty disappointing when I hear about others doing it in under an hour!

Hope you all have/had a great weekend!

I was really hoping to do the SFR brevet on Satuday but I wussed out late Friday night after watching the news reports of flooding in San Anselmo & Fairfax.

I had a lot of company, out of 86 registered riders, only 32 actually showed up, & 30 finished.

But turns out it was a really good ride , albeit very windy. I think the wind out at the Pt Reyes lighthouse would have done me it.

I helped out with the rider check in at the finish from around 5 to 8 pm, and I posted a report of sorts in this thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=371758).

Good thing I didn't decide to ride long today. Just came back from a few errands, and it is wet out there. Or maybe it's because I'm a wussy .. :p

I coach the ElCerrito Highschool Mountain Bike Team. I met our varsity mountain bike riders at China Camp today (in SanRafael). Was spectacular!! No cars, just a few hikers. We did 21 miles and 2000 feet, 2:10 riding time. I rode my single speed 29er -32 x 18 gearing.

Been riding sooo much road lately forgot how wonderful mountain biking is :D I will be doing a lot of mountain bike racing this season.

Have a great week everyone!!

It felt SO good to get out on the road today - Hermes and I took out the tandem because it was sporting its fenders (and I really didn't want to get my Orbea Orca all dirty). Also, that strong wind from the south was a lot easier to handle on the tandem. Flat #1 on the rear tire - light rain starting but we were equipped with rain jackets and a fast tire change. We picked up a couple fellow Webcor cyclists, having a great time and flat #2. :( Thoroughly check out the tire and find a couple gashes which we try to "boot." Finally make it to Peet's and the hot coffee makes everything better. :) Heading back home, flying with a tail wind, some stray sunshine, and riding for a while with a woman from the Webcor women's pro team and her pro husband. Flat #3 - and very frustrated. We are now out of tubes (but we have a patch kit) - Ted is kind to give us a tube. Can't find a leak in the flatted tube - seems to be a valve problem. One more flat and I call a cab to pick up the car! We make it back to car FAST and no more flats! :) Thanks to everyone who stopped and offered to help. Cyclists are GREAT people! :D
