Anybody running these with a brake? If so, how are they holding up?
Thanks.

how come it looks like rebranded iro stuff
how come it looks like rebranded iro stuff
and aren't iro parts just "rebranded" formula stuff?
just like most kids would probably spring for iro for cool points, one that says "alien" on it is obviously ten times sweeter.

At least one can get a response from IRO. Alien is damn silent when it comes to answering questions....

Yea, I saw that - they are bias. I'd like to get some real world feed-back. Maybe a pic of the finish after some brake abuse.

I ride mine with a front brake. Some people make fun of one machined rim and one not machined rim on a bike, but heck it works for me. It was pretty much machined in about a weeks worth of riding. I am having so issues with the front wheel being out of true radially, but I have a feeling that is my fault because I ran for a few weeks with way to low PSI (coming from the mountain biking world so I got confused...) and I had a bunch of hard hits.
Some people have mentioned they have a somewhat poor seem on the rim, and I would have to agree. It doesn't affect my ride or braking at all (that I know of) but it is still a very visible seem. They ride very stiff that being said, and with the exception of knocking the front out of true because of a stupid move on my part I sprint around on them a lot and feel confident.
If I had to do it again, knowing a lot more about bikes, I would probably take the time to learn and build up my own wheels, but for a start they were a good deal and a safe bet because I had a lot of concerns and questions and these just fit the bill.
Here is a pic of them on my bike. I'll try and get a close up later.

Awesome. Thank you so much.

Alien never responded to me when I wanted to buy hubs from them. Luckily others did.....

Are those chopped RB021's??
They are some chopped reynolds bar. I taped them before I even bothered looking at the model. Got them for the cheap on ebay. They are great for climbing.
Why? Anything particular about that bar?

No I just never seen anybody chop 021's. Curious was all.

Ah cool. I am very tempted to go with some drops instead, but I am not sure how they would do given the relaxed and small geometry of the frame. I am also having a hard time finding drops I like. I like my bars to be narrow and I hate all that ergonomic crap they put on them these days.

the name alien actually turns me off from them quite a bit.

Girl. She's tapped.
She was my dad's cat. I inherited her when he passed away. She's family, so I couldn't get rid of her. I'm actually allergic - but use to her.
Yours?

They kicked me out of there because I asked if anybody used unmachined deep v's with a brake.
the joints on the weinmanns are crap too
but they're pinned so it doesnt affect the ride and its why they cover them thangz up with those stupid decals
