Hi all,
I'm Jo, a college senior at MIT. I joined the forums a few months ago, but have been lurking until recently. I'm new to cycling, but am going to be doing a cross country tour next summer with Bike & Build (http://www.bikeandbuild.org) to raise money for affordable housing. We'll be biking from Boston, MA to to Santa Barbara, in my home state of California. The trip will take about 8 weeks, and we'll average 75 miles/day, with a few rest days and stops to build build houses with local affordable housing organizations. If anyone's interested in more information (or perhaps donating to the cause), I have a fundraising website at http://web.mit.edu/jotong/www/bnb
So far, these forums have been an invaluable resource in my quest to learn more about cycling and what I need to do to prepare for my trip. I just placed an order today with Zane's Cyclery for a 2008 Specialized Allez Elite Compact, and I'm really excited to get it and hit the road.
