I still do not know what happened. One minute I'm heading west on Amar, next I wake up in LA County Med Center. Police report won't be ready till next week. It was a successful test of my new interactive road id. Well the official total is three cracked ribs, a substantial hematoma on the right hip, miscsellaneous road rash. Bike am told is in better shape. Did get to meet Dave the "gas" man at my angiongram Friday night.

I hope Yogi recovers soon and fully.
Did he ever indicate why it was a successful test of the Interactive Road ID?

Yup. I always wear one. By the way, in addition to my name and emergency contact information, my ID states "Save my bike first!"

Ah man, that's too bad. Hope Yogi is okay. Cracked ribs ... not good.
Get well! I hope you got your FLU shot, the last thing you need with cracked ribs is the flu or a cold.

I believe it was the first reponders at the scene either EMTs or Ploice that accessed the ID. I was out like a light so
I didn.t know. The first access was at 16:26 that has to be the accident scene. The helmet was damaged and probably saved me from a concussion or worse. The cut my riding pants off at the accident, but not my jersey. They took that off at the ER. The really good point to make here is I was out and could not not communicate. They got all the information from the ID including notifying my wife. I have has several positive inquiries from the group I ride with, ask about the ID.

I wear a dog tag with five lines of information
Name
City, State
work phone
home phone
NKA/NKDA/A POS
The last line means no known allergies, no known drug allergies and A positive blood type. I used to be a paramedic, and I am keen on the idea of identifying me. On all of my bicycles, I have attached to the handlebars a laminated business card with my home address and phone on the back.

Ok...I'm a little slow to catch on here..;) but awhile back I got an email from a friend with a warning about putting family contact info on your cell phone, you know like wife, husband and indicating such... Something about the ability of dishonest people (in case you loose your cell phone, wallet) to send a text message to your spouse asking for bank pin numbers...
At the time I thought..."Why is he sending me this?" I'm not too paranoid about bank stuff...
Then I realized that he knows that I cycle and assumes that I use my cell phone as part of my safety net. He wanted to point out a potential hole, in case I hadn't already thought about it...

If your emergency contact is willing to share your pin # based on a text message, you might want to think about putting someone a little brighter on your list.

Assuming that there's only ONE person who knows your PIN #, you can discuss that in the event of a text msg asking for such info, it has to be confirmed with a voice call rather than text msg. Also, how likely is it that your spouse would not remember his/her PIN #?
The precaution seems a bit excessive.

LOL!!
Maybe it seems that way to US...but think on this...Nigerian Bank scams. How many do you see in your inbox? Can you believe that there are people who actually fall for those?

True...but...
I forget pins...passwords...I have so many different ones, I change them often and I'm kinda loopy anyway...;):)
...and it's just a "heads up". It's a hole (or potential hole) that's all.
...and you've heard the old saw, a small hole can sink a big ship...:)

Yea, he's a good guy. He is not skittish at all. It used to be I hear accidents all the time, and I made the assumption that they are not very skilled riders, but that is not the case here. Yogi is a seasoned veteran, and very stable rider. Not sure what's going on ... something in the air in SoCal? Just be careful out there, and don't take things for granted.

That's a typical nOOb tude...that skill/experience at a sport somehow insures/shields/protects you from getting hurt.
Sometimes it's the opposite.
The "pros" are the ones out there really pushing the envelope...and paying the price
