8am with the coffee drinking, cell phone talking, makeup applying, burrito eating, running late underslept on their way to work drivers

or

2:30am with the drunks, fratboys, gangbangers?

Who would you rather have coming up behind you?

Morning drivers, because if all is well I'm drunk enough to not be afraid of the 2 AM drivers. There is nothing scarier than being run off the road by some psycho***** who is too busy texting on her way to class in daddy's (despite what the vanity plates might say) SUV to notice me.

drunk at night, with a chip on their shoulder about something... the worst. Those are the ones who will try to provoke you for no reason, hit you and then yell at you like its your fault before they drive off. Why do people like to **** with bikes when they're drunk?

Night time drivers. Here in Maine we dont stress the morning sh*t too much.

morning drivers always.
tons of cramped up traffic with impatient drivers in an extreme hurry especially around the many school areas near me.
around late late night time, there's a lot less drivers on the road plus they're not in too much of a hurry to get anywhere. so they usually drive a little better (take less risks, etc.)

5pm Friday before a holiday weekend. Everyone's thinking about vacation... nobody's thinking about driving.

Yeah, when i'm out riding my bike at 2 am i'm usually drunk so I've got that false sense of invincibility where i can make up any hill, go as fast as i can(which i probably assume is faster than i'm really going) and not worry about what's going on around me.

Late night drivers scare me. I've been hit at night with full lights on (not bad or anything, but still). There's fewer cars but the ones that are on the road are potentially going to be drunk and/or not see you.

But yeah, 5pm drivers are the worst. I hate being on the road at 5 unless it's blasting through downtown traffic. Everyone's in a damn hurry and not paying attention.

fvk morning commuters. I saw this crazy lady shaving her leg at a stop light one morning. no joke.
I was way more dangerous driving home in the morning when I was totally hung over than when driving drunk(usally to drunk to see never mind drive)

and blow right through a stop sign that a cop is waiting at while pointing and laughing at him!

at least, that's what I seem to have a habit of doing while drunk. such a horrible idea.

but on topic, I dont like the morning drivers. they're all in their own little world.

in our little town, 8 am is hairy even to drive. I have to ride tomorrow morning, and I'm not looking forward to it. 2am, it's like a ghost town. I rode up the left lane of MLK for 3 miles, and only saw one car.

I think morning is the worst, people are half awake, in bad moods, and usually multi tasking. Even A.m. pedestrians are terrible, they are so unaware of their surroundings. I feel a bit safer at night because if a car is coming towards me at least I can see the headlights coming.

I'm more afraid of morning drivers. At night time around here there isn't much traffic. When someone is coming there is enough room for me to be able to avoid them. I know they are drunk and rowdy so I can take precautions. Most of them are just trying to get home without being pulled over.

In the morning there are too many cars and I can't tell which ones are crazy. They are not paying attention and they are just trying to get to work as fast as possible. They are usually aggressive too.

At night time the only thing I'm worried about is hooligans trying to throw eggs at me or something. When I was 16 and stupid I used to throw crap at people at bus stops so I probably deserve it.

Depends. I think evening rush hour is much worse then morning one. Trying to merge to make a left turn? Good luck with that. You are taking life in to your own hands. In the morning they might beep at you, but will let you merge.
During non-rush hour traffic? Evenings since there are much less cars.

Mornings are pretty mellow, usually.

4 to 5 pm is the worst time to ride a bike here. it takes 30 minutes to drive halfway across town, normally it takes less than 10. everyone is frustrated and just wants to get home so they do all kinds of stupid ****- drive in bike lanes, try to squeeze through yellow lights and get stuck in the middle of the intersection, make last minute right turns, etc.

The late night drunk drivers are way sketch too, I've been run off the road a couple times, both here in SC and in Sacramento.

Afternoon/evening rush hour. Everyone wants to get the **** out of Dodge, and pity the poor soul who gets in their way.

we've got different hazards at different times of the day... pre-7am is the best time in the warmer months, because it's daylit but most folks aren't out yet. the 7.30–9.30 traffic is rushed and multitasking drivers, the late morning and midday is distracted college peds, afternoon is college drivers leaving campus, rolling straight into the going-home-from-work crowd. on the weekends (wed–sun) downtown evenings are a mess for gaggles of inattentive peds.

Both are pretty hairy times where I ride but I am voting for the late night drivers because that is when I had a drunk driver get out of his car to fight me. Why? Because I was riding in the right lane and he didn't want to use one of the other five completely empty ones to go around me. What I got from his ranting is that, apparently, he thought I should climb up onto the sidewalk so he could pass!?!? Anyway, that was Christmas morning at 2:30 am after the Christmas Eve Moonlight Cruise here in Austin. On weekends, at that time, my area is very busy with people leaving the bars and heading back home and is quite dangerous...

+1

In the morning people are tired/doing make up/shaving/Drinking coffee, Stressed. Plus Traffic is heavy so when your splitting lanes, and someone does not signal, its a bigger deal then when some drunk does not at 2 in the morning when neither of you in in a rush and the roads are empty. when there is no one else on the road, space for both of you, you can hear them coming and all that. in the morning there are so many cars. you have to deal with so many more bad drivers, At night in an hour of riding i will encounter 5-30 cars on the same route that i pass hundreds on during rush hours

I worry more about the day time people as there are so many more of them they are harder to avoid.
