I am going to have my cholesterol tested tomorrow so while they are sticking me, are there any other values I should take a peek at? Something that will let me know if I will be an Olympic cyclist? :D

HDL/LDL ratio and

The concentrations and sizes of the particles (LDL-C, small LDL, large HDL and large very-low-density lipoproteins) are better indicators of risk than the traditional lipid panel (Kraus et al, N Engl J Med 2002; 347:1483-92).

at least ask....

I just did mine,

C reactive protein, testosterone level (JUST my opinion)

I'm sure you know to fast...not even black coffee.

Resting blood tests are not going to give any info as to the athletic
capabilities of your system, but may reveal problem areas as prior posters
suggest. Some of these are fixable. You would have to do some
heavy stress testing to judge your ultimate physical abilities, tests
to reveal your maximal output, your sustainable output and your
recovery speed after maximal testing. Carmichael's site has some
suggestions for simple tests of this sort to ballpark where you are
but Colorado Springs or Boulder is the place to go for formal evaluation.

Thanks for the reminder about particle size. I remember reading an article recently that discussed how numbers of cholesterol hadn't changed but particle size did and how it causes an entirely different interpretation.

If you're male and over 30, check for testosterone or even better, estradiol.

Why those checks Az_B? I'm 31, and I have a checkup in a couple of months. [I gave in after my father was diagnosised with a heart condition. Supposedly, the online descriptions state it could be inherited.] I already know my cholesterol is low--it was like 120 2 years ago. [Trying to get that back under control, as it was below 100 10 years prior.]
