Mountain Biking - Looking at a Raleigh Lahar. What do you guys think?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I do not have a mtn bike - sold it a few years ago to buy my Poprad. Now I want to get back into it. My LBS has a Lahar sort of on sale. It's $799, normally $879. It seems to have a good enough component group that I shouldn't need to replace anything for a while, and since I am a valued customer to them, they said they would give me my choice of stem and pedals for free.

I haven't been into mtn bikes for a while, so I've been feverishly trying to learn about modern specs and so forth. I don't want to do anything hardcore, just some local singletracks here in NC.

So, to anyone in the know, is this a good bike?

Looks like a very sound XC bike, good parts list. I would say go for it.

Thanks danka24. As soon as I get the go-ahead from the CFO I'm gonna go pick that bad boy up.
