I knew I liked these guys for a reason! Just got word on my replacement frame. It will be upgraded from alll aluminum to aluminum with a carbon spine. Meaning a cabon toptube, seat tube and seat stays. It all sounds great but what really gets me is they went out of their way to match my current fork to the new frame. LBS said the replacment frame doesn't come with a fork so one must use the current form in warranty situations. I was worried I'd get an orange bike an a blue fork, not the case. I can use the fork on the new frame without losing points in the Martha Stewart department. I guess with Trek standing behind their product and the big guys (FThomas, Bikedork& Co.) behind me, how could I lose?:D
I've always been a Trek lover though. I had a 95 Trek that started me out on the road. I loved the fit. So I tried a mtn bike hoping it would be just as nice. I was so happy I stayed with Trek when upgrading the MTB. I loved the bikes so much that when I decided to upgrade Gina's roadie, I suggested the Trek Pilot 5.2. She loves her Trek too. After he roadie, I decide to get another Trek but to be honest, wasn't thrilled with the colors that year so I took a look at Lemond since they too were Trek. I was even happier with that fit. I also tried to go Trek when we purchased our tandem but couldn't wait 6 months (backorder period that year).
Now seeing the way Trek took care of me, I'm more than happy I went that route. Never thought I'd have to use the warranty but it's been a pleasant experience IMO. No I don't work for Trek, Trek works for me. I am not advertising any product that I sell. I am just more than happy that Trek stood behind their word!
I'm jealous that some of you can afford to buy sweet exotic bikes, but for the poor working stiff, recreational rider like myself, Trek has more than made me happy. Just a word to those that need to get as much as possible from their money, give Trek a try. They do stand behind their product!
Except for the inconvenience, it sounds like a good deal for you.
How long will it take for you to get the frame?

Congratulations!
I've never liked the ride of Trek, personally, but its good to know they've got excellent customer servicing.
Even though I'll probably never buy a Trek, or want to, willingly.

Glad to hear another good customer support story from a big bike company. I always heard Trek stood by their warranty and your case is further proof. I never have owned a Trek product but you never know, maybe someday.

Despite my involvement with cycling, the nerd in me still brought up this mental image with the thread title:

If you ever do that, I'd be impressed! Frame aside, because that can always be a custom/local frame builder or a particular brand's US-manufactured frame, you're saying that ALL the other parts on the bicycle will also be manufactured in the United States?
(or were you referring to America... which would make the bicycle more possible, but I would rather take Asian bicycle part manufacturing over Central or South American manufacturing quality)

Mr. B,
I'm happy for you. BTW, did the LBS or Trek distrib. ask you to pay for the difference or any money out? I thought their warranty only goes up to $300 on the frame?
If not, what are you require to do? or At this time, is there any more purchase you will need to get your new bike in shape?
thanks.

The shop said that Trek would give me the frame as long as I turned in the broken frame in exchange. I could have done the component swap myself at no charge but decided to go with the shop's offer to do the work. They offered to do the switch for $50 which includes all new cables and any small hardware need to complete the job. I was planning to do it myself with a lil help from friends but figured after I give a friend a lil sump'n sump'n, it might come out the same if I replace cables or need to buy small hardware. I figure this way, the shop sould have everything needed to do the job quickly and conveniently.:D
So no, no upgrade, warranty fees on the part of Trek. Just the $50 for swap and new cables to the shop.
I was worried that Trek might get me by charging me for a matching fork or parts for the new frame. Wasn't so. Seems they went out of their way to match my fork (saving me money). I think we both win. They save their 08 frame and I get an upgrade to match my current fork. I think it was some good thinking and planning on the rep's part! Another happy customer!

Just talked to the Lemond guy (i think Carl is his name) in Wisconsin yesterday about how Lemond takes their size measurements. He couldn't have been nicer...seemed to be willing to take as much time as I needed. I currently have a Buenos Aires (04), but may upgrade to a Victoire (07) soon, so I needed some info on measurements and geometry diffs. Left me very impressed with their customer service.

I sent an email to the address on the Lemond site looking for some info on my warranty. I thought I'd be waiting a while for an answer but shocked when a rep responded the next day.!:D

I had problems with mine, after 1000 miles my rear spokes started to break from the hub, never took it back just relaced the rim with new spokes, its fine except the tiny hump in the rim.
I dont know if I would buy another trek though,Ill just keep what I have and replace parts when needed, until the frame ever cracks.

I have had nothing but good experiences with the trek company when it comes with the warranty. I have the lemond bike with the carbon spine and love it. Well after about a month of getting it last year the rear wheel started cracking. Took it in and no questions asked and got a new rear wheel in 2 weeks and they gave me a loaner till then. Not only do trek company bikes come with a lifetime warranty but bontrager components with the bike come with a five year warranty which is just kind of unbelievable especially for wheels.

Well all I know is that the bike shop owner must have given me false information about the warranty,he told me that was wear and tear,I did fix it but I guess that it must have been the bike shop owner not trek.
I guess that i will not buy a trek from that dealer again,I will have to buy a trek from somewhere else.

Wow, just keeps getting better! I was told by the shop guy that Trek doesn't include the fork with a replacement frame. I figure it's cool!
Shop guy calls today and says TREK threw in the new fork too!:D
Should be a about a week.

I had a Schwinn Varsity..
50 lbs of good American steel. Rode that hing everywhere.
Use to take it off road in the Hills above Claremont, now known as " Claremont wilderness park".
Crash bang, fall, laugh get up and do it again.
