I have a entry level road bike that has Sora components and a triple chain ring. I was just cleaning up the bike today and dreaming of my next/better bike. Lost in those thoughts I wondered about the compatibility of 105/campy shifters between double and triple chain rings. Do these shifters accommodate both triple and double chain rings and it's just a matter of adjustment when using only double chain rings?

For Sora components, there is a different part number for double and triple cranks. For Tiagra up, I'm pretty sure the left lever is compatible with both. Just a case of buying the right derailleurs for the front and rear.
Campy ergopower shifters are, I believe, double/triple compatible throughout the range.

Do keep in mind Derailleurs for doubles won't work with triples.
