I was at a bike shop today discussing bikes and components. The owner said that Shimano is bring out a 10 speed Dura-Ace cassette in the next few weeks.
Anyone hear about this?
While on the subject (and you Campy guys please don't start the infernal carping about how much better your stuff is), the owner also said that three, four years down the road, the difference between Ultrega and Dura-Ace will become even more apparent. The durability of Dura-Ace is, according to him much superior to Ultrega.
Any comments?

The 10-speed dura-ace cassette has been up on the shimano website for a bit... clickety-click (http://dura-ace.shimano.com/publish/content/duraace/en/home/the_product0/drive_train.html), scroll down about half-way.

And, apparantly, you CAN put a 9-speed cassette on the new freehub body.:crash:

I actually got to see the 10-speed DA in person since I have an in at Orbea's HQ here in Little Rock. Mighty nice, I must say.
I'm still on the fence over whether to switch to Campy or upgrade to Shimano-10. I really like the idea of a 12-27 with a 16.
I got to see the new Dura Ace at the finish line of the City To Shore MS 150 in Ocean City, NJ. Fuji had a bike with the new components. The crankset is a work of art.

I have gone on record before with my displeasure of owning Ultegra. Apparently I am in a minority on the subject but in a short amount of time and with not too many miles I have trashed the following Ultegra parts;
headset - within 1000 miles
rear hub body (2) - 1 within 3000 miles another shortly after.
STI shifter cover fell off while riding casually down the road at three months.
front hub - within 3000 miles
I have never been able to get the noise out of the bottom bracket/ crank. I've tried everything.
I have replaced parts with Dura-ace when appropriate.
Next time I will go all Dura-Ace or Campy.

think doug hit on the most interesting aspect of the new duraace. the cranks--love them or hate them. i personally think they're ugly as they can be.
btw, the reviews i've read say 04DA is as good as or better than record.
