Folks -
In the market for a new computer , possibly w/ HR monitor, looking for suggestions . My latest just-HR Polar A3 died (4 yrs old, my fault) and while it'll be $40 to repair, Polar will give 30% off several models on a trade-in. I'd like to replace my low end bike computer too if possible , and Polar has several models which are attractive at least on paper. A bit of googling though has revealed complaints about e.g the CS200cad, but I don't know if the number of complaints goes as the units, #sold, or what, nor have I tried comparing number of complaints about other units. factory replacement batteries are annoying but not deal breakers.
Anyway, here's my list, in priority order :
1.) HR monitor , can use separately from bike - computer would go on arm band or something.
2.) Rear wheel speed sensor, to use with present trainer. Wireless no necessary, but wired rear-wheel
units few and far between I think.
3.)Cadence would be nice.
4.)Don't care gps/download data/ etc.

The best solution might still be just a plain heart monitor and separate computer still.

comments ?

A Cateye Astrale 8 computer and a separate HRM would be my pick.

Glad I asked-Astrale 8 looks like a winner. That + a basic Polar HRM totals about half ($70) the wireless Polar cadence + HR unit alone. Likely more reliable + does all I want anyway. Much better choices.

Thanks for the tip.
