Mountain Biking - good first full suspension bike? price check aisle craigslist.

I have an 05 F400 and an 06 Allez comp, just looking for something all mountain more than my F400.

I dunno if you actually need a full suspension bike. I've never been a fan of them because you lose quite a bit of pedaling efficiency. I'm a hardtail fan for life. It seems like you ride in some pretty demanding areas but you probably have a set of knees that would serve perfectly as a shock absorber.

If you are going to go full suspension then I would say yes. Assuming the bike is in good condition it's a good buy.

unless you're racing, I honestly see no reason at all not to go full suspension. Besides, the fsr is a proven design that minimizes bobbing and energy loss.

But, I would take a friend with you when you check out the bike. The current owner doesn't seem to know what he's talking about (his ad is rather absurd)

"Great all around downhill/all mountain/cross country bike." (what? a stumpy?)

is there any indication of what all the upgrades are? The specs he describes seem pretty similar to the ones listed for the stock bike

Anything XTR listed is an up grade on that bike.

I find this odd, my bike (an 07 FSR) has over 500 miles on it and I maybe have one or two scratches.

Come ride in the mountains...you'll appreciate a FS bike.

On a properly set up bike, you don't lose much (if any) pedalling efficiency and on some/most climbs, you will find the FS is faster and smoother.

If it doesn't fit, it's not a good bike for you. Is a large your size?

could be, I've got to see... My cannondale F400 is an XL and my Allez is a 58cm. I'm 6'1'' or so with a 34'' inseam usually.

If it fits, it will be a great ride. If it does not fit, just walk away.
