I don't know that I'd want to draft him, but I sure wouldn't mind hooking up to him and letting him pull me uphill. He probably wouldn't even notice :) Of course, you'd have to watch out for sudden "hazards."

Not the biggest yet, 19 hands or 6'6" is the height of the measuring stick the lady is holding. When measuring a horse you measure at the withers (just behind the top of the neck) so this horse is not 19 hands yet.

Not sure if any of you have been next to the Budweiser Clydes but they stand right around 18 hands. WOW, standing in the middle of 5 of them really makes you feel small and their hoofs are about the size of yer skull. :D

How about Radar. 19 hands, 3 1/2" (about 6'7") and 2400 pounds of Belgian Draft Horse? Having worked around Belgians (in breeding tests using collection dummies, no less), believe me when I say standing next to these animals makes you realize they are HUGE---yes, THAT way, too.

This sort of animal is what I think of when I think "clydesdale." Imagine having that kind of power.

Morgans were used in the Civil War as cavalry mounts, including Sheridan's "Rienzi" and Stonewall Jackson's "Little Sorrel".

Draught (or draft) horses are magnificent animals. I've ridden some draught horse crosses and the muscling on them is incredible. Power to spare!

I've had the pleasure of checking out the Budweiser Clydes in person, but what's freaky about this, is that when Digger grows up he may become as big as Zdeno Chara, though I doubt ever as tall as Yao Ming.

My grandfather kept Morgan's, usually matched pairs. Most of his ran on the large side of the breed at 15+ hands. They were mainly used for riding and buggy, but could be used as a light draft animal. Beautiful to see and work with. We have a man across the county from us that runs Belgians on a farm, plowing, seeding and harvesting. He does it for the pure pleasure of having working horses. I have spent some afternoons sitting on the side of the road admiring his team as the plow out the 25 acre "road field". It is an amazing sight and one that is seldom seen anymore in this day and age.

When he has skates on, he is about as tall as the Sears Tower. The man is a GIANT, with a 103 MPH slap shot to boot.
