Mountain Biking - Specialized P.2

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
How does this thing do in the hills (trails)? Anyone have a good est. on weight. And some pics too?
Thanks, Matt.

I just recently purchased a 2001 P3, and the frame should be about the same. The weight is about 34+ pounds. quite heavy to be a real trail bike, definitely not the best at climbing hills, but if you've got the legs for it then you'll be ok. trail riding is also difficult unless you already ride a 16" frame to begin with. The top tube is probably ok if you're tall, but you'll need a long seatpost. I'm 6'1" and it's fun for urban assault, but even with the stock seatpost all the way out my knees start aching about 30 minutes into a ride. Think of it as a big BMX bike the geometry is al wrong for trail riding. Freeride, DS, and urban are fine as long as you don't sit for too long.

I had a 2000 P.3 and I had it set up more for urban. It could handle the trail nicely, but it was heavy (32 lbs approx.). Climbing was a definate chore, but going down was worth the suffering going up. Great jumper!
