My Trek 73fx quick release skewer just isn't long enough to accomodate the InStep trailer hitch. It's about 1/3" too short. 1/2" longer quick release skewer would probably be perfect.

Any ideas where to get a slightly longer quick release skewer that will work with shimano hub, or a different attachment from someone else that will work?

Part of the issue is the thickness of the hub attachment, the other issue is the shimano Nut on the other side is partially concave, which it doesn't grab the screw, it's like causing a 1/4" lenth issue.

Just that alone would help possible, nut that catches flush..but don't want to compromise safety of course.

Thanks

Do you mean the skewer itself, or the hollow axle that it rides inside? If you mean the first, then I guess you will have to see if you can find another, longer one. I think the longest common ones will be made for 135mm MTB; if your spacing is less than that you can find one easily. If you mean the second, then use what you have. That tube only needs to overlap the dropout a bit; it does not need to protrude all the way through.

Thanks for the reply. The skewer itself. One of my local bike shops ended up having a a kit for trailers that had a longer skewer and an attachment piece. So I got what I needed.

I found one online described as longer, ordered it, showed up as same standard 165mm length..wasn't happy about that..but hey, $7 as a backup isn't bad I guess.

Thanks
