This looks like a great forum - there are so many people active in it. I just turned 59 and love to bike. I was really pleased to see a forum just for people over 50 as well as so many other forums tailored to special interests like biking in winter both of which I already gleaned a lot of good info from. We've got a lot of great places to ride here in Delaware and Maryland's eastern shore; good club rides too which I hope to be joining.

Hello everyone, and thanks for the welcome. I'm in the Seaford area. I'm just getting back into cycling after a hiatus because of moving here from Baltimore. I intentionally moved about 4.5 miles away from work so I could commute, but I have to gear up some first because I've got stuff I carry back and forth from work and I don't have any panniers or other means of carrying it. I've got a B.S. in Forestry hence the username. Looking to possibly do some group rides schedule permitting.

(a childhood memory involves being introduced to Quercus suber at the Los Gatos Library :) ).

I thought at first you had mis-spelled Quercus rubra - being from the east I was not familiar with Cork Oak. Did my first commute today - nine miles round trip. It felt great.

Hurrah!

Cork Oaks aren't common in California, but there were some splendid examples at the library. Still there as far as I know, too. I'll have to take a look the next time I'm down that way.
