I got a new bike last week and set it up pretty much the same as my old bike, except that I raised the seat a little(1cm or so). After a ride on Sunday of around 58 miles I noticed that the inside of my left foot, along the arch near the heel is sore, like a strained muscle. It doesn't hurt all the time just when I flex my foot. My initial thought was that either the seat is too high or perhaps the cleat alignment is off. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what might be the cause/solution.

Sounds like plantar fascitis.

One of the most common injuries, especially to weekend athletes.

Good Luck.

Bikedud: I took a look at the link and based on the info there and it doesn't seem to match. My pain is more along the side of the arch, almost along the side of the foot and it does't hurt all the time. My main question is related to what might have caused it and how can I change/adjust my bike to prevent it from happening again.

check the bottom of your shoes to see if the cleats are aligned properly
