Over in the rubbish thread I posted these pics. This bike was in rough shape when I got it. I took everying off of it, because everything besides the frame and fork was beyond repair. I'm still trying to find out what this black bike is. My guess is that it is from Japan. Sugino cranks, Shimano Tourney, the same bottom bracket cups as a japanese made Raleigh I have. I put a picture of the headbadge up here too. I bet someone will get it from that. The serial number is: M7091641. Dual eyelets on the rear dropouts.
got it:

Looks like a 1980s Saint Tropez. We sold a few of these at our shop. Can't remember where they came from.
I found this reference to "Aerolight" and "Saint Tropez."

Guess this is why I was able to id the bike. I had seen this one in our storage area a few months ago. Too bad mine has a bent fork.

That explains it. Thanks for the help. I ended up trading it for a 90's Merida 903 race frame and a bit of cash. Not a bad deal. I don't know much about Merida, but it has Tange DB cro-mo tubes. The only thing I know from reading around the threads is that they make Specialized frames. you know any more?
Merida is the 2nd largest Taiwanese bicycle manufacturing company. In addition to building some of the Specialized bicycles, they built several other brands and had a long term relationship with Raleigh, building many of their models.
