Those are the thingamabobs for brifters. Don't have any modern bikes, don't know what they are called.
cable adjusters for brifter systems the knurled one is campy the smoother one is
shimano.

these are just Shimano cable stops/guides for either the brifters (as they were designed) or for barcons (as WE would use them). They won't do any shifting duties for you, the little lever on the RH guide just allows for quick on-the-fly trimming of the cable housing tension, which can be crucial to getting good performance with SIS drivetrains.
